The Atascocita area takes up most of zip code 77346 and part of 77396. There are really no defined boundaries, but most of the area along Atascocita Road would be considered a part. Apparently the road and the area got it’s name from early Spanish settlers who built a settlement and fort in the area sometimes in the 1700’s. It seems to have been a trading route known as the Atascocita Trail. The name sometimes gets mispronounced, but it is commonly pronounced “Ah-tass-ca-see-tah”
